Based on the rediscovery of Henry Grant Plumb’s archive and a significant portion of his artistic production, my mission is to restore his rightful place in the canon of American art history. With the collection I purchased in 2014 (see links to published articles describing the discovery), I will organize a retrospective exhibition that will be presented at the Salmagundi Club and hopefully one or two museums. An illustrated scholarly catalogue will accompany the exhibition. Through a combination of donation and sale, I will disseminate Plumb’s artistic and historical heritage to re-establish his reputation and amplify our knowledge of the experience of Americans studying art in Paris during the post-Civil War era.
